St Michael’s Mount – Music on the Mount 22 April 2012

7TH ANNUAL MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA

Only day of the year when entry to the grounds, castle and gardens will be FREE OF CHARGE

As a big thank you to the local community and all its supporters and friends, St Michael's Mount will open its doors free of charge on Sunday April 22 for its seventh annual Music on the Mount event. Organised entirely by the Islanders, the festival celebrates every kind of music with a programme of events as rich and varied as the history of the Mount itself. Throughout the day visitors will be treated to live music and dance from swing and rock to Cornish music, Samba drummers and belly dancers. Local musicians, school choirs and entertainers will all be on hand so get ready for full brass bands, saxophone quartets, swing bands, Celtic fiddlers plus some traditional Cornish dancing.

Entertainment and music will be happening throughout the castle and gardens from St Hilary School Choir singing on the Bowling Green, the West Cornwall Concert Band playing against the stunning backdrop of the sub-tropical gardens, to the intimate harp playing of Jade Hamzelou within the castle walls.

For children, Captain of the West storyteller Mark Harandon will be on hand spinning his yarns and there will be FREE Punch & Judy shows, face-painting and a bouncy castle for all.

Entrance on the day is totally FREE to the castle, gardens and all the music and entertainments. It promises to be a fantastic day for all the family!
