There is so much history at St Michael’s Mount that one day is never enough to really explore all its fascinating architecture and artefacts, so we’ve made a list of the top ten ‘must sees’ to make sure you don’t miss any of the most amazing features of the Mount:

1. Entrance Hall
Before you go back in time and immerse yourself in the history of the castle, pause to take a look at John Miller’s pictorial history of St Michael’s Mount. This contemporary artist was born in London but lived most of his life in Cornwall and became famous for his coastal landscapes. His love of the Cornish coast is evident in this series of 9 oil paintings of the Mount.

2. Sir John’s Room
This room is home to Roger Wearne’s stunning Mounts Bay Tidal Clock. Made in around 1780, the clock tells not only the time, but the movement of the tides, showing when high tide will be, and therefore allowing inhabitants to plan their crossings to the mainland via the causeway. Made of mahogany and with a silvered face, the clock has a beautiful lunar section to explain the tides.
