Kid friendly events in West Cornwall this summer

Boasting a plethora of soft sandy beaches, mesmerizingly clear seas and a hotchpotch of towns and villages to explore, a holiday in West Cornwall has all the ingredients for success. Top that off with a whole host of family-friendly activities, and you are all set for a holiday to cherish forever.

With so much going on, there’s nowhere more exciting than West Cornwall for kids this summer. From teeny tots to nearly teens, your little ones can look forward to spell-binding adventures and hours of discovery.

To get you started here is what’ on this summer for kids in West Cornwall:

12th – 14th July – Tropical Pressure: A superb family-friendly event, Tropical Pressure is bringing some extra heat this summer. With outrageously rhythmic live music, child-friendly activities, plenty of yummy food and unique gifts to pick up, this is one for all generations.

21st July; 18th August; 1st September – Rock Pool Explorer at St Michael’s Mount: If you would like to know what’s on this summer for children in Cornwall, Rock Pool Explorer should definitely be on your list. Taking place on select days, this free event allows children to experience the magic of our seas and learn all about the little (and big!) creatures who will live just off the causeway.

26th July – 3rd September – Paradise Park: Summer of Parrots: Flaunting every colour under the sun, the parrots of Paradise Park are strutting their stuff this summer. Take your mini ecologists along for a chance to see the rare Blue-throated and Great Green Macaws, Citron-Crested Cockatoos, Sun Conures and many more, and learn about all you can do to protect these wonderful birds.

29 July - 4 September 2019 – Garden Magic on the Mount: Taking place every Wednesday between 11am and 4pm, Garden Magic at St Michael’s Mount shares the radiant mosaic of colours cloaking the Mount’s gardens with youngsters. Explore the scents, sights and shapes together and let your little ones get creative with their very own mandala and flags.

29 July - 4 September 2019 – Tall Stories of the Castle: Each Monday between 11am and 4pm, our talented crew will share stories of the Mount, including gripping tales of Cormoran the Giant. Fiercely inspired by this dastardly fellow, children can create their very own giant’s head using clay and other materials. To add to their family’s legacy, they can also design their very own decorative coat of arms too!

29 July - 4 September 2019 – Myths and Legends of the Sea: If you have a little sailor or a mini mermaid in your clan, they will love the Myths and Legends activities taking place every Tuesday here at the Mount. From 11am to 4pm, children can create their own reed boats, realise underwater worlds and make willow fish on sticks and flags too! Each fun-filled activity is linked to the stories that our band of storytellers will be performing throughout the school holidays.

7th, 14th, 21st and 28th August – Beach Art Explorers with the Tate St Ives  – Every Wednesday throughout August, the Tate St Ives is welcoming budding artists between the ages of 5 and 12 to have some creative fun on the beach. Let your kids loose on canvas and watch them be inspired by the talented artists and magical stories of Porthmeor Beach.
